The Clay Minerals Group was founded 75 years ago! We are celebrating to mark the occasion. During 2022 we will:

- Ran a (hybrid) two-day conference in the Natural History Museum, London from 25–26 May 2022, with a series of invited speakers and including a talk on the history of the group (contact Francis Clegg).
- Launch a new CMG ‘Research Grant‘
- Each month a new image of a clay is being added to the Images of Clay archive. All of the 12 new images will be from Great Britain and Ireland.

- Run an international competition to find the ‘best’ new images to add to the Images of Clay archive (see the archive page for how to submit images) a panel from CMG will judge the best new addition to the archive from the images received, and the ‘winner’ will be announced in December. And the winner is ….an image of chlorite with goethite from the Triassic, Schleerieth Sandstone, Germany, submitted by Marli de Jongh, see if you can find it in the archive!
